#WCW : Zara Larsson!!

Sweden has many fabulous exports. Let's forget the fact that the late Denniz Pop was Swedish and his protegé Max Martin would become one of the driving forces in today's modern music world. With that, let's talk about Zara Larsson. She's probably Sweden's biggest export since IKEA, Swedish meatballs, Ace of Base and the ever-iconic ABBA. I used to always tease about "Never Forget You" since it sounded like a blatant copy of Skrillex & Diplo's Jack Ü collab with Justin Bieber, "Where Are Ü Now", but it took a while for it to grow on me. Let's also remember that MNEK was the driving force behind this production and he has worked with Diplo before.

Zara Larsson is set to release her second album "So Good" worldwide this Friday March 17th.

Zara's surely no stranger to the music world. Her first brush with fame came when she won the 2008 season of Talang (Swedish version of the 'Got Talent' series) where she brushed the crowd away with her cover of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On." at the age of 10. Zara would go on to sign her first record deal in 2012 and by the following year, would release her debut EP titled "Introducing" in her native Sweden. Her EP would go on to make triple platinum status, landing her a record deal with Epic Records that same year.

Quite possibly my favorite Zara Larsson song. "Lush Life" became a smash in Summer 2016 in the UK.

Zara is also an avid Beyonce fan, once stating that on Beyonce's tour stop to Sweden, Zara was crying throughout the entire performance in the front row and collapsed when she got to meet Beyonce face to face backstage. Her advocacy for women's rights and her outspoken remarks on Twitter against abuse towards women (in particularly the case with Chris Brown) have only made her a prominent role model for girls all over the world. Zara also has a natural charisma when interacting with her fans. I'm really looking forward to hearing more from Zara Larsson within the next few years.

Zara Larsson is also a very funny character. Watch her in her latest appearance on "Skavlan" where Zara practices her Norwegian.

Prince :-(

We lost seriously one of the greatest artists of our time.

Prince was one of a kind. I will admit, I wasn't as big of a fan of Prince as I was say Michael, but Prince provided an experience that very few musicians can emulate.

My favorite Prince jam has to be I Would Die 4 U simply because it was a staple 80's love song that was very well produced, sung and sincere. Prince was the man when it came to writing music.

DJ'ing out and getting familiar with my crowds over the years, tracks like When Doves Cry or 1999 or even Little Red Corvete all made the crowd go nuts and not to mention all of the tracks he wrote for other artists and a lot of projects he had a duty with not limited to Morris Day & the Time and Sheila E.

May he rest in peace.

Coachella 2016!

OMG, Coachella bruh.

It was actually some of the dopest three days of my life. I haven't had a good vacation in a while and I was excited to see some of my favorite artists over the course of three days.

I didn't get that many pictures, but again, the experience is better when you don't have to worry about taking so many goddamn pictures you miss the entire show

Revamped website

I'm so excited I was able to get my website updated and running smoothly. I'm going to be adding more features to it so stay tuned!

I leave for Coachella tomorrow yet again. Last year it was very unfortunate but I came down with the stomach flu while I was down there.

I'm hoping to have a full blown list of acts and tons of pictures from the festival!

Stay Tuned!

Taylor Swift vs. Apple

With Apple unveiling their new Music streaming service that is expected to go up against media giant Spotify, Taylor Swift and Big Machine Records were quick to point out that while Apple would provide three free months of service to their clients, that musicians were not going to be paid for royalties during those three months.

Taylor Swift (and possibly Big Machine Records) fresh out their pulling their catalog from Spotify, was quick enough to write in an open letter to Apple, to which Apple responded quickly to it.

Could Taylor Swift possibly be the most influential or powerful woman in the music industry right now??

See for yourself below.

DJ Tips & Tricks Vol. 001

Hi there,

To the DJ that gigs out using either Serato DJ or Scratch Live with something that isn't a Rane 62 or a SL4 (where you can't switch between laptops/DJS at the end of your set.)

I usually try and carry a 1/4 to RCA cable that way I can either connect another laptop or connect a phone.

Since I know it's difficult to fill up your phone with tracks via iTunes, I use my premium account on Spotify. Believe it or not, Spotify gives me the ability to be able to stream full tracks from my phone anytime I want with the $10 a month subscription.

At the club, I can easily load a track that the opening DJ hasn't played before and can drop it on the fly from my phone in order to switch laptops. Then I can either match it up via my computer or simply mix out of it.

An extra tip I can suggest is (since I have an iPhone). Spotify gives you the option of downloading tracks so you can play them offline, download the track before you jump in the mix and set your iPhone to either "Do not Disturb" or Airplane mode so you can play the song without any interruptions.

Ive tried it on many occasions and it has worked for me. Plus I like having any song available to my disposal for streaming when I'm out and about or when I'm in the car. Spotify is in my opinion the Best general investment ever.

what do you dj's think?

Monday May 18th, 2015

Hello all,

First and foremost I'm excited to be launching this website in it's entirety. I hope you enjoy it and I thank you so much for checking out the website.

This past weekend was a blast. From Wednesday at Rancho, Friday at Rancho again, Saturday proved successful helping DJ Sol rock a wedding and mixing at The Maverick in Santa Ynez. Can't wait to do it all again.

This week is full of surprises. I think this upcoming weekend will be one for the history books. Memorial Day weekend is always one of the busiest of the year.

Friday is the 2nd annual "This Bangs Block Party" at Rancho Bowl in Santa Maria. We will have Rancho Bowl's finest DJ's as well as many of the biggest DJ's from all over the area. 2 Rooms and an Extended area. Friday is definitely one for the history books.

Friday also marks the beginning of Lightning In A Bottle, a huge music festival that is put together by the Do Lab (who also put on their own stage at Coachella this past year). They will be having it for the second year in a row at Lake San Antonio in Bradley, CA. I will be there talking to organizers and be doing updates on here and for This Bangs so be sure to look out for that.

Saturday marks DJ Sol's birthday celebration at Rooney's Irish Pub in Orcutt. Be sure to attend there because again This Bangs will be sure to pack the house that night.

Sunday marks the DayFade at Rancho Bowl. 12 hours of straight partying with the 805's best DJ's. Remember no work or school the next day! This one will once again be for the history books. Drink specials galore!

Honestly I can't wait, it's going to be such a busy weekend.

I'll keep you updated.

Taylor Swift - Bad Blood

Yesterday at the Billboard Awards, Taylor Swift premiered her video for her latest single "Bad Blood."

I personally am starting to like Taylor Swift more and more. So much, that I actually bought her 1989 album back in December and honestly I'm not gonna lie, it's a really good album for a Pop album.

Check out this star studded video that features my celebrity girlfriend, Ellie Goulding below.
